Walking Netball is a slower version of the game we probably played at school, it is netball but at a walking place. Women play walking netball for the fun, laughter and camaraderie the social session brings as much as for the health benefits on offer.
Walking netball has been designed so that anyone can play it regardless of age or fitness level. From those who have dropped out of sport they loved due to injury to those who believed they had hung up their netball trainers many years ago. Walking netball really is for everyone.
It can give those who feel isolated an outlet, provide an activity for those who don’t deem themselves fit enough to run anymore and offer a stepping stone for those looking for a pathway back into netball.
Walking netball sessions are designed to be fun and flexible and follow the same format as any other netball session including a warm-up and drills followed by a friendly game. You don’t need any special kit to take part, just clothes you feel comfortable exercising in and suitable footwear (ideally trainers that lace up). Make sure you bring some water.
We play outside on the all-weather court and the sessions are led by England Netball trained hosts. There is an annual membership fee of £12.00 to join both the Chilwell Institute and and the Chilwell Institute Netball Club. The session fee is £3.00
Sessions are Wednesdays 6.15pm – 7.15pm and Thursdays 1.30pm – 2.30pm
