Walking football is a an increasingly popular sport for all ages and abilities and ideal for beginners. Men’s over 50 sessions, run in partnership with Nottingham Bramcote WFC, has been successfully established at CMI since April and the decision to open up this fantastic local facility to the ladies was an easy one.
Chris Clift said ‘The success of the England Lionesses has raised the profile of women’s football and has made walking football a very attractive option for women who want to keep fit and have a bit of fun. It’s ideal for a slightly more sedate football experience as it is a non-contact game with no heading allowing everyone to shine and develop their skills!’
“ The pitch at The Institute is the perfect size for a 5 or 6 a side game and located right in the heart of Chilwell. The first ladies’ session on October 7 was a great success and we’re looking forward to establishing a regular Friday morning group for years to come”.
The Institute already has a very active walking netball group. ‘Walking’ groups are the new way for older residents to still participate in sport but in a manner more suited to their age and ability. They are popular with younger people too! Everyone is welcome.
Walking football takes place on Friday mornings and is £3 to play. Ladies 9.30am – 10.30am and Gentlemen 11.00 – 12.00. For those interested in trying out this sport please contact Chris on 0115 972 3653 or enquires@chilwellmemorialinstitute.org
