Walking Football

In 2022 we joined forces with Nottingham Bramcote WFC to run sessions for women and men every Friday morning here at CMI and it’s been a huge success! Why not come and join us and join in the fun?

WF is for anyone who may find the running version a tad tiring or downright exhausting! Having said that WF still raises the pulse rate and is a great way to get fitter, have fun and meet new people.

Most of our participants are over 50 but there are no age limits. You do not have to come to every session – just come when you can. It is £3 per session.

We run two sessions: Women 9.30 – 10.30 and Men 11.00 – 12.00.

WE  PARTICULARLY WANT TO ATTRACT MORE WOMEN TO THE FIRST SESSION. Our “Lionesses” are a great group and they would be delighted to meet new players.

Do not worry about skill levels. Absolute beginners welcome. Everyone fits in and supports each other. It’s all about FUN, FRIENDSHIP, FITNESS & FOOTBALL.

WHY NOT COME ALONG AND TRY IT OUT? YOUR FIRST VISIT IS FREE!

CHILWELL MEMORIAL INSTITUTE

Walking Football for Women in Chilwell

‘Have fun, do 1000s of steps, meet new people and enjoy a chat and a cuppa afterwards’ is how Chris Clift described the new walking football sessions for women at the Chilwell Memorial Institute’s artificial multi-sport arena.

Walking football is a an increasingly popular sport for all ages and abilities and ideal for beginners. Men’s over 50 sessions, run in partnership with Nottingham Bramcote WFC, has been successfully established at CMI since April and the decision to open up this fantastic local facility to the ladies was an easy one.

Chris Clift said ‘The success of the England Lionesses has raised the profile of women’s football and has made walking football a very attractive option for women who want to keep fit and have a bit of fun. It’s ideal for a slightly more sedate football experience as it is a non-contact game with no heading allowing everyone to shine and develop their skills!’

“ The pitch at The Institute is the perfect size for a 5 or 6 a side game and located right in the heart of Chilwell. The first ladies’ session on October 7 was a great success and we’re looking forward to establishing a regular Friday morning group for years to come”.

The Institute already has a very active walking netball group. ‘Walking’ groups are the new way for older residents to still participate in sport but in a manner more suited to their age and ability. They are popular with younger people too! Everyone is welcome.

Walking football takes place on Friday mornings and is £3 to play. Ladies 9.30am – 10.30am and Gentlemen 11.00 – 12.00. For those interested in trying out this sport please contact Chris on 0115 972 3653  or  enquires@chilwellmemorialinstitute.org
